Visage Paranormal invite you to join us on a ghost hunt at the Thorne Former Workhouse, Doncaster.
You’ve probably seen the Ghost Hunting TV Shows and thought, “I’d like to do that”. Well now is your chance to experience a REAL, no nonsense ghost hunt.
This event is strictly limited to 20 guests only.
Become a ghost hunter for the evening and attempt to contact the spirits that still reside in this place. Take part in various experiments including Victorian Séances and table tipping. you have full use of all our ghost hunting equipment throughout the night in your search for the spirits or we are more than happy for you to bring your own.
You will need to bring warm clothing and appropriate footwear and also a torch as it it very dark when all the lights are turned off.

Thorne Sea Cadets
Parking Available on site outside the building.
Not suitable for wheelchair users. People with mobility issues are made aware that there are a lot stairs in this location but they all have handrails.

Thorne Union Workhouse was erected in 1838 on a site at the west of Thorne at a cost of £3,315 and was to house up to 200 inmates.
A casual block was erected to the east of the site and an infirmary to the west with a mortuary behind it. This is where they would keep the pigs.
By the late 1920's the workhouse could house around 111 inmates however the average occupancy would been around 80 people.
By 1930 it could house up to 108 inmates including 29 males and 5 females in the casual wards. At this time it was deemed to be too small an establishment and was closed a few years later.
In 1940 the workhouse became military billeting until 1944 then the local unit of the Sea Cadets had the front part of the house. The part used by the Sea Cadets now was the Social Club for C F Taylors (Wool spinners) based at Shipley, Yorkshire. A mill at the top of Brook Street was the Thorne branch - now closed. The club eventually closed and the Sea Cadets took it over. The building is now used by TS Gambia The Sea Cadet Corps (Unit 334).
The main part of the Workhouse was demolished. The Infirmary part, now a residential home was used for some time as a factory for Chilproof knitwear.
Until the 1960's a small brick built mortuary with a massive stone slab stood at the back of the infirmary. Most of the dead who had laid on it were burned in unmarked graves. The bell that was tolled to bring the residents back in at night no longer peels.
Reported sightings of Shadow People and noises have been heard in this building and also reports of being hair being touched by unseen hands and disembodied voices and footsteps have been heard.

- Big group vigil which includes a circle of protection. This is entirely optional and you DO NOT have to participate if you do not wish to do so.
- Break up into smaller more intimate groups
- Take part in various experiments including table tipping, Glass Divination, Ouija sessions and traditional Victorian Séances. You DO NOT have to participate if you do not wish to do so.
- Complimentary Tea/Coffee/Soft Drinks and snacks available throughout the night.
- A friendly knowledgeable team with years of experience to give help and guidance through the night.
- Access to ALL areas of the building not usually accessed by the venue (dependant on the venue)
Visage Paranormal offer a way to keep costs down so you can pay a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit to book your place then you can pay the remainder of the balance four weeks before the start date of the event.

1. Acceptance of Terms
1.1 By using this website you and your party accept the Terms & Conditions set out below.
1.2 If you do not accept the Terms & Conditions governing this website then do not use the website.
2. Guest Restrictions
2.1 Age Restrictions
2.1.1 Due to some restrictions that are imposed by certain venues and by our insurance company, the minimum age to take part in our events is 18 years of age. Visage Paranormal reserve the right to ask for ID if any of the Visage Paranormal team suspect a guest as being under the minimum age. Failure to provide proof of age or any guest found to be under the minimum age will result in the guest(s) being removed from the event WITHOUT ANY REFUND.
2.2 Guests who use wheelchairs or have severe mobility issues are kindly asked to contact us before booking on an event to check that the venue is suitable. We do try our best to accommodate everyone.
3. Alcohol & Drugs
3.1 Visage Paranormal reserve the right to remove any guest(s) that they suspect to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or is suspected of bringing alcohol or drugs to an event.
3.2 Any customer removed from an event because of clause 3.1 above WILL NOT be entitled to a refund.
3.3 Visage Paranormal reserve the right to ask guests upon arrival if they have been drinking alcohol before the event.
4. Pregnant Women
4.1 Due to restrictions imposed by our insurance and by certain venues heavily pregnant women WILL NOT be allowed on any of our events.
5.1 Visage Paranormal has a zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive behaviour on our events. Out of fairness to all others attending the event, any customer found to be being disruptive during the evening or towards other customers, WILL BE removed from the event.
5.2 Any guest found to be causing harm, injury or damage to any other person, property or venue WILL be removed from the event.
5.3 Any guest who has been removed because of clause 5.1 or 5.2 above WILL NOT be entitled to a refund.
5.4 Out of Bounds Areas
5.4.1 Any areas of a venue that have been clearly marked as out of bounds will be communicated to ALL guests at the beginning of the night. Any guest found to be in these areas will be removed from the event immediately, NO REFUND will be given.
6. Full Ticket Prices, Deposits and Remaining Balances, Coupon/Voucher Codes
6.1 Places can be reserved on any of our events (where availability allows) via the payment of a deposit. The deposit amounts are set at £10 per person. ALL deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE and MUST be paid within 7 days of booking. Any booking where the deposit is NOT received in 7 days will result in the booking being cancelled.
6.2 Remaining balances MUST be paid one month (4 Weeks) prior to the event starting, unless otherwise stated on the event page. Failure to clear the outstanding balance on or before this time will result in your booking/place(s) being cancelled. If you are experiencing difficulty meeting the outstanding payment date please contact us.
6.3 Payment in full MUST be received before the event taking place, Unless otherwise agreed by Visage Paranormal in writing.
6.4 Your place on an event will only be confirmed when the FULL PRICE has been received by us. This can be either a FULL PRICE purchase or a REMAINING BALANCE payment.
6.5 From time to time we will have a special offer where we state for example 'BUY TWO TICKETS FOR £50'. The offer only applies to the FIRST TWO TICKETS PURCHASED. If, for example, you are purchasing four tickets then you will get TWO TICKETS for the offer price then the remaining TWO TICKETS will be full price tickets thereafter. The discount is automatically applied in your basket for these type of offers.
6.6 Where a coupon/voucher code has been received, Coupons/Voucher codes CANNOT be used in conjunction with any other offers available.
6.7 Where we have a sale running for any length of time, the sale only applies to 'PAY IN FULL' tickets only. If you select to pay a deposit the remaining amount will be remaining amount at normal 'PAY IN FULL' ticket price NOT the sale price.
7. Indemnity and Liability
7.1 Compensation will be given to any customer who suffers any loss or damage if we fail to carry out any duties imposed up on us by law, unless the failure is attributed to:
7.1.1 Guests own fault
7.1.2 Any Third Party not connected with the provision of services under these Terms and Conditions, including the owners of venues; or
7.1.3 Any events that have been unforeseen by Visage Paranormal even if we had taken reasonable care.
8. Smoking and Fire Hazards
8.1 It is UK law that smoking is prohibited in any public building in the UK. The staff at the event location will tell you where the designated smoking area is for the guests that smoke.
8.2 Candles and other naked flames are strictly prohibited from being used during our events unless in the designated smoking area. Any guest found to be using these items for anything other than smoking will be removed from the event with NO REFUND GIVEN.
8.3 Smoking will ONLY be permitted during scheduled break times. Guests should NOT leave the premises unless it is during a scheduled break.
9. Usage of Equipment on Events
9.1 The equipment that we make available on all of our ghost hunting events becomes the sole responsibility of the guest when they are handling it. Any loss or damage that Visage Paranormal incur due to loss, Damage or misuse of equipment arising from the actions of a guest or guests WILL be recovered from the guest in question.
10. Personal Belongings
10.1 Any clothing, equipment, vehicles or personal effects belonging to guests are their own responsibility. Visage Paranormal cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to vehicles or to personal property
10.2 Equipment as referred to in clause 10.1 above also includes any ghost hunting equipment bought along by the guest to the event.
11.1 Visage Paranormal does not offer any accommodation on our events unless otherwise stated on the event page. The event will clearly say if there is sleeping arrangements available.
11.2 Visage Paranormal STRONGLY ADVISES that you take out insurance cover (if offered) at the time of booking your overnight accommodation. If, due to reasons beyond our control, an event is cancelled such insurance cover will protect your accommodation booking, enabling you to request and receive a refund.
12.1 You will agree that the event the Visage Paranormal supplies and any services that we supply are for entertainment purposes only. We cannot and will not guarantee that any paranormal activity will take place on the night. Visage Paranormal DO NOT fake any activity on our events, we as a team do not go on any of the equipment that the guests use. Visage Paranormal strives to bring to you a well organised event, conducted under controlled conditions.
12.2 Visage Paranormal take a very dim view of guests that fake activity. If any guest is found to be faking activity be it tipping a table, moving a planchet / glass or any other form of fake act they WILL be removed from the event and NO REFUND will be given.
13. Photographs and Film
13.1 During events we will be filming all vigils using a camcorder and infrared lighting so we can see in the dark. This media will be used on social media to promote our company and show any evidence that was captured on the night.
13.2 If you do not wish to be seen on social media at such an event then please talk with one of our team at the beginning of the night and we will try our best to keep you out of the film or photograph.
13.3 Due to some restrictions at some venues photographs and film will not be allowed at that particular venue. This will be communicated to ALL guests at the beginning of the night. Any guest found to be in breach of this clause will be removed from the event and asked to leave. NO REFUND will be given.
14. Our Staff
14.1 Our staff are always professional, however, any statements made by a staff member are the sole opinion of that individual and in no way reflect the opinions or policies of Visage Paranormal.
14.2 No opinions (perceived or otherwise) made by any staff member of Visage Paranormal should be conceived as a factual statement. As a guest you are responsible for making your own decisions and it is understood that when a staff member suggests something to you, it is only an opinion, and should NOT be interpreted as the sole course of action.
15.1 The customer agrees to indemnify Visage Paranormal against all liability in respect of costs, claims, damages, demands, penalties, actions, proceedings, suits, losses or expenses in respect of or arising out of the injury to or the death of any person, or damage to any property arising from the guests own neglect.
15.2 When attending any of our events please wear sensible clothing and footwear. During the winter months warm clothing is advised as temperatures can drop quite considerably during the early hours. Visage Paranormal take no responsibility for illness or injury due to wearing incorrect clothing or footwear.
16. Cancellation, Postponement and Changes to Events
16.1 Where an event is cancelled in full (without a rescheduled date being arranged) due to adverse weather conditions or situations out of our control, we will endeavour to refund any monies paid to guests that have booked onto the event.
16.2 Where the event is moved or re-scheduled, Visage Paranormal reserve the right to refuse any refunds.
16.3 Visage Paranormal will NOT be held liable for costs incurred to you and/or your party arising from cancelled accommodation bookings or travel arrangements
16.4 Visage Paranormal will NOT be held responsible for any changes to a planned event due to restrictions placed on us by the owners of the venue, including but not limited to the areas in which we have access to. If a guest chooses to leave before the scheduled finish time of the event because it is not what they thought it would be NO REFUND will be given.
16.5 Where an event is cancelled by you the following refund policy will apply:
16.5.2 If you cancel a fully paid booking up to 8 weeks before the event date we will issue a full refund less 50% cancellation fee of the total booking cost.
16.5.3 If you cancel a fully paid booking up to 6 weeks before the event date we will issue a full refund less 70% cancellation fee of the total booking cost.
16.5.4 NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FOR CANCELLATIONS WITHIN 6 WEEKS OF THE EVENT DATE.
17. Event Transfer Policy
17.1 Should you find you cannot attend an event then you may be permitted to transfer to an alternative event; transfer requests will only be permitted once; subsequent transfer requests for the same original event date will not be accepted.
17.2 UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES will Visage Paranormal accept or honour transfer requests that occur within 6 weeks of your original event date, and no refunds will be given.
17.3 If you cannot attend an event you are advised to notify us as soon as possible, regardless of when the event is taking place.
These terms and conditions shall be governed by United Kingdom laws.
Visage Paranormal LTD may alter these terms and conditions at any given time and without prior notification being given.
